Why did you join Velo 11?

I wanted to be a part of something I have a passion for and see pros like myself getting out on the bikes and encouraging each other.

How long have you been cycling?

I have been cycling for a few months now, I’ve always enjoyed exercise bikes but since lockdown I’ve been cycling daily and it’s something that I will continue doing throughout my life.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

It’s a different type of fitness but it gives me some cv work, keeps the power in my legs and burns some calories. It’s also very good for my mental wellbeing, it clears my mind and gets me outdoors in the fresh air.

What bike do you ride?

I ride a TREK Emonda SL 5 Disc.

What is your go-to workout song?

Why did you join Velo 11?

Cycling over the last year has become a real hobby of mine and has grown quite quickly into a passion. To be involved in a group of current and ex footballers where you can ride together, push each other and also have a social connection has been brilliant.

How long have you been cycling?

I thought about getting a road bike for a few years but like a lot of people the initial lockdown pushed me to do it and I am so glad I did! Since then I have been riding consistently each week either outdoors or on my Wattbike.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

Physically I am the fittest I have been since retiring from football many years ago and have enjoyed seeing the gradual improvements (speed/watts) over the year. Cycling has also been brilliant for my mental well-being. Going for a ride outdoors or a blast on Zwift always makes me feel better.

What bike do you ride?

Pinarello Gan Disk / Wattbike Atom

What is your go-to workout song?

Why did you join Velo 11?

Velo 11 is a great platform and has given me the opportunity to connect with some old friends and other members to enjoy a social bike road. I’ve enjoyed meeting up with Lewis for a ride and sharing the same interest away from football.

How long have you been cycling?

I’ve always enjoyed keeping fit on a Watt Bike over the years, but the first lockdown in March was when I properly got into road biking to keep me fit and busy.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

I’ve found cycling really rewarding for my mental and physical wellbeing. It’s not too much load through my joints I've found it has been a great way to keep fit and focused while exploring the countryside.

What bike do you ride?

A Cube.

What is your go-to workout song?

Why did you join Velo 11?

My good friend James Tunnicliffe told me about it, so thought it was a great idea as I already do a fair bit of cycling.

How long have you been cycling?

Probably around 4/5 years now, I did a charity 100m ride for kids with cancer and got the bug from there.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

I still have a lot of calf and back issues from my football days so cycling helps me to maintain my fitness without stressing those areas. It’s also amazing for the mind too.

What bike do you ride?

I currently have an Argon but it’s 4/5 years old now so I’m ready for an upgrade!

What is your go-to workout song?

Apple workout drum and base 🤣

Why did you join Velo 11?

With a sporting background it was good that I could join fellow like minded athletes with a similar level of fitness/ability.

How long have you been cycling?

Around 5 years now, originally starting with a mountain bike totalling around 150 miles a week.

It wasn’t until 2020 lockdown however that I switched to road cycling.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

Aside from the obvious fitness/weight related benefits, I see it as an enjoyable way to see different places in the world with friends.

What bike do you ride?

Carrera Virago.

What is your go-to workout song?

Not really one for music, I tend to listen to Youtube playlists or podcasts. Few mentions are the ‘Peter Crouch Podcast’ & ‘I Had Trails Once’.

Why did you join Velo 11?

For the social aspect of Velo 11 and the group rides that are planned for the summer up North.

How long have you been cycling?

About 18 months.

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

Having your own time to yourself!

Canyon Aeroad for the roads and a run around for the London streets.

Why did you join Velo 11?

When i saw that other ex pros had joined the club it was a no brainer as i like the competitiveness and seeing what other guys have done in the Strava club and on Leaderboard. Its also great to stay in touch with former pros!

How long have you been cycling?

Around 12 years now. Mostly during the off season but since retirement a lot more!

What are the best benefits of cycling for you?

After retiring i was keen to keep my fitness levels up without hurting my joints.
